Reading

  • Time: 12:00pm – 5:00pm

At Calvary Bridge School, we recognize the critical role that early literacy plays in a child’s overall development and academic success. Our comprehensive reading program is carefully designed to nurture a love for reading from the very beginning. We start by introducing our youngest learners to the joys of books through interactive storytime sessions, where they engage with vibrant illustrations and simple, relatable stories. As they progress, our program focuses on key literacy skills such as letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and vocabulary development.

By age 5, our goal is for each child to read fluently and with comprehension. To achieve this, we utilize a blend of phonics instruction, sight word recognition, and guided reading exercises. Our dedicated teachers tailor their approach to meet the individual needs of each student, providing additional support where necessary to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.

We also encourage reading beyond the classroom by creating a rich literary environment, with access to a wide range of books that cater to different interests and reading levels. Special reading events, such as book fairs and reading challenges, further motivate our students to explore the world of books. At Calvary Bridge School, we believe that by fostering a strong foundation in reading, we are equipping our students with the tools they need for lifelong learning and success.
